ECOGEL
ECOGEL is a hydrophilic polymeric substance known as a superabsorbent, due to its exceptional water-retention capacity, which allows it to store water ranging from 150 to 400 times its dry weight.
When it comes into contact with water, the polymer rapidly absorbs it to form an insoluble, gel-like substance, which becomes a readily available water reservoir for the roots.
ECOGEL acts like a sponge in the soil or growing medium, with the exception that the absorption and subsequent release of water are accompanied by dramatic changes in volume (0.5 g of the product is enough to turn the water in a glass into a gel-like mass).
Its high persistence, efficient release of water to the roots, and—most importantly—its minimal alteration of rehydration capacity make this product a powerful tool for combating drought and reducing water consumption and the frequency of watering.
